Job summary

Hy-Vee in Ames, IA is seeking an Assistant Meat Department Manager to support the Meat Department and ensure the best quality products at competitive prices. You will lead with customer-first service, train staff, and help manage inventory, cutting lists, and product rotation to uphold freshness and safety.

You will report to the Meat Department Manager and collaborate with store leadership and perishable teams to deliver a positive shopping experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and related meat program experience.
• Hy-Vee food safety training and knowledge.
• Dale Carnegie training is encouraged; related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service in all interactions.
• Greets customers and learns names to address them by name when possible.
• Assists customers by guiding them to products, securing items, and taking orders.
• Works with team to ensure customer satisfaction and department standards are met.
• Maintains freshness by rotating stock and pulling stale items; assists in cutting and prep.
