Job summary

Hy-Vee Johnston Meat Department is hiring a dedicated Assistant Meat Department Manager to support the department in delivering fresh, high-quality meat products at competitive prices. You will help supervise Meat Specialists, Wrap Coordinators, and Clerks, ensuring standards, freshness, rotation, and accurate cutting lists.

You will also train new employees, promote a safe working environment, and maintain excellent customer service in a fast-paced retail setting.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent required.
• Hy-Vee food safety training recommended.
• Cornell Home Study food safety course (Effective 03/07/96) noted in job description.
• Dale Carnegie is encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service in the Meat Department.
• Assists Department Manager to ensure freshest, highest quality products are offered at competitive prices.
• Supervises and guides Meat Specialists, Wrap Coordinators, and Clerks when needed.
• Maintains department standards, checks freshness, rotates stock, and manages cutting lists.
• Trains new employees and supports department operations and safety procedures.
