Job summary

Whole Foods Market, Inc. is seeking a Meat Cutter to perform cutting, preparation, display, and selling of meat products. You will provide courteous, friendly service to customers and Team Members, and ensure adherence to health and safety regulations.

The role requires 14+ months retail experience and completion of the WFM Butcher Apprentice Program or an equivalent training program. You must be able to lift 50 pounds and work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• 14+ months retail experience.
• Completion of WFM Butcher Apprentice Program or equivalent training.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Cuts, platters, and merchandises products (beef, pork, lamb, veal, poultry).
• Prepares specialty meat merchandise (sausage, oven ready products, cured meats).
• Checks product to ensure it meets quality standards.
• Maintains sampling program.
• Monitors and assists in preventing spoilage.
• Mentors and supports assigned Meat Cutter Trainee(s).
• Arrives on time, groomed and ready to work; attends trainings and meetings.
• Provides excellent customer service and uses suggestive selling; answers phones promptly.
• Maximizes sales through proper prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising.
• Follows health, sanitation and safety procedures; maintains clean workspace.
• Performs opening, mid, and closing duties; ensures pricing accuracy.
• Reports safety hazards and violations immediately.
• Performs other duties as assigned by leadership.
