Job summary

Whole Foods Market in Dayton, OH seeks a Meat Cutter to cut, prep, and merchandise beef, pork, lamb, veal, and poultry. You will uphold food safety standards, assist customers, mentor trainees, and keep the department clean and well stocked.

Qualified candidates typically have 14+ months retail experience and complete the WFM Butcher Apprentice Program or an equivalent training program. This full-time, on-site role requires flexibility for nights and weekends and the ability to lift 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Meat department responsibilities and standards.
• Proficient cutting and trimming of meat products.
• Knowledge of quality and safety requirements in meat handling.

Responsibilities

• Cuts, platters, and merchandises products (beef, pork, lamb, veal, poultry).
• Prepares specialty meat merchandise (i.e. sausage, oven ready products, and cured meats).
• Checks product to make sure it meets WFM quality standards.
• Maintains sampling program.
• Monitors and assists in preventing spoilage.
• Mentors and supports assigned Meat Cutter Trainee(s).
• Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques.
• Maximizes sales potential through proper prep, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising.
• Follows health, sanitation, and safe work practices.
• Performs opening, mid, and closing duties; ensures accuracy of signs and pricing.
• Reports safety hazards and violations.
