Job summary

Ascend Grocery, LLC is seeking a Meat Cutter to operate the meat department in DeLand, FL in line with company standards. You will trim and prepare standard cuts and ensure merchandising plans maximize sales and freshness.

Responsibilities include handling beef, pork and poultry, maintaining quality, rotating stock, and delivering excellent customer service while following all policy and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of Save-A-Lot Meat Cutter Training Program within 3 months.
• Previous experience cutting meat including using hand tools and power equipment, such as knives, slicers, grinders, cubing machine and power saw preferred.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent Customer Service Skills.
• Must be dependable and flexible.
• Must adhere to uniform dress code.

Responsibilities

• Cuts and packages authorized beef, pork and poultry items according to Save-A-Lot policies and procedures.
• Wraps, weighs and prices cuts of meat.
• Labels packages according to COOL, USDA and Save-A-Lot standards.
• Maintains displays and case signs; maximizes sales; may assist with product ordering.
• Maintains proper date rotation for dated and undated products.
• Prepares and places meat cuts in display counter to look attractive.
• Receives, inspects, and stores meat to maintain cold chain and quality.
• Follows all Save-A-Lot policies and procedures (COOL, sanitation, etc.).
• Responsibilities may include other perishable and non-perishable duties to maintain store performance.
• Protects company property and merchandise; may be assigned to multiple stores.
