Job summary

Fresh Thyme Market is seeking a Meat Cutter to keep meat cases stocked and clean while delivering top-notch customer service. You will inspect shipments, weigh and label products, and ensure proper temperature controls in the cooler and freezer.

Strong math skills and familiarity with health codes are required. Applicants should have a high school diploma and 2+ years in grocery/ meat department experience; journeyman cutter preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency degree.
• Minimum 2 years professional experience.
• Preferred 2–3 years grocery retail experience in Meat department.
• Journeyman cutter or apprenticeship program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Stocks meat cases; presentation, facing, filling, and organization as per department schematics.
• Maintains cleanliness of meat aisles, storage area, and work area for safety.
• Monitors rotation of meat products and expiry dates.
• Assists customers at the meat counter with purchases and product selection.
• Receives and logs products for accuracy of shipment, temperature, and quality.
• Operates knives, scales, wrappers, and related equipment.
• Ensures proper temperatures during production of meat/seafood items.
• Cuts and packages meat/seafood products for the day.
• Keeps cooler/freezer organized and properly labeled.
