Job summary

SpartanNash’s Cheboygan location is hiring a Meat Cutter to cut and prepare various cuts according to department standards. You’ll weigh, trim and portion products, follow recipes, and ensure shelves are properly stocked and merchandised. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, and retail/meat-cutting experience is preferred.

The role emphasizes safe food handling, accuracy with weights and measurements, and providing excellent guest service in a fast-paced store environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year retail or related experience preferred.
• Prior experience as a Meat Cutter or Apprentice preferred.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend and interpret documents.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Suggestive selling/knowledge of products.
• Detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Cut and weigh steaks, chops, etc. for individual servings.
• Produce value-added products per guidelines.
• Cut, trim and bone carcass sections to cooking cuts.
• Follow recipes to grind and tray meats; make sausages.
• Price, date, wrap and bag meat products per guidelines.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked department and assist customers.
