Job summary

Kroger in Indio, CA is seeking a friendly Meat Department team member to prepare, stock and serve customers while upholding the company’s values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity and safety.

You will cut, wrap, label, price, rotate stock, keep the department clean, aid customers, and follow health and safety standards; weekend and holiday shifts may be required; prior meat or food prep experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Ability to read shelf tags, signs, and product labels.
• Must work with various cleaning solutions, safely use sharp tools, and operate certain equipment.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to tactfully and calmly handle stressful situations and make a positive impression.
• Meat work experience or similar experience in food preparation.
• Past work record reflects dependability and integrity.
• Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to employment practices, safety, and food handling

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks such as cutting, grinding, slicing, preparing, processing, trimming, tenderizing, sealing, packaging, wrapping, labeling, and merchandising.
• Stock and display meat items safely and rotate stock as needed.
• Check product quality, ensure freshness and proper dating.
• Maintain clean, organized sales areas, backrooms, and coolers.
• Provide courteous customer service and assist associates as needed.
• Unload trucks, sort orders, and place items in proper cooler locations.
• Wash and sanitize equipment in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Greet customers, promote high-quality foods, and increase store sales in line with marketing programs.
• Adhere to company policies on harassment, safety, and job performance.
