Job summary

The Kroger Family of Companies in National City, CA is seeking a Meat Department team member to perform general meat preparation, processing, trimming and packaging, while delivering friendly customer service and upholding safety standards.

On-site role includes stocking, rotating, labeling products, assisting customers, unloading trucks, and maintaining a clean, organized department in line with health regulations and company policies.

Qualifications

• Meat work experience or similar experience in food preparation.
• Willing to work weekends and holidays.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to read shelf tags, signs, and product labels.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to employment practices, safety, and food handling.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks such as cutting, grinding, slicing, preparing, processing, trimming, tenderizing, sealing, packaging, wrapping, labeling, scaling, merchandising, selling, serving customers, and other functions in accordance with company policies.
• Stock and display meat items safely and in accordance with company standards.
• Check product quality; make sure it is rotated properly and fresh.
• Provide good customer and associate relations.
• Unload trucks, sort orders, and place in proper cooler location.
• Wash and sanitize equipment in accordance with company and health department policies and procedures.
