Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory seeks a Modeling and Simulation Engineer to join a collaborative team developing and deploying integrated M&S software for performance analysis of combat system components.

You will work on cross-functional teams, architect workflows, and create automation scripts to support large-scale simulations, while contributing to future capabilities and government sponsor communications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Math, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in software development and integration.
• Proficient in Python and C++ with ability to translate math into code.
• Familiar with Git and build systems like Make/CMake.
• Comfortable using a debugger in Linux environment.
• Able to communicate ideas and results clearly.
• Eligible for Interim Secret clearance (citizenship required).

Responsibilities

• Identify suitable modeling and simulation approaches for study objectives.
• Architect integrated software solutions to optimize simulation workflows.
• Develop integration layers to connect applications for interoperability.
• Create scripts to orchestrate large-scale simulation runs.
• Insert prototypes into models for concept exploration and feasibility.
• Diagnose and debug software defects and root-cause issues.
• Analyze outputs and translate results for sponsors.
• Deliver presentations to technical staff and government sponsors.
