Job summary

The Math Tutoring Lab at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College seeks a part-time tutor to assist students in all levels of mathematics, including developmental courses. You will work in a fast-paced lab, provide tutoring to students of diverse backgrounds, supervise Lab Aides and Peer Tutors, and help enforce campus policies while delivering professional and helpful support.

Responsibilities include tutoring, supervising staff, communicating effectively with students and instructors,

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree, or higher, with significant coursework in Math or a related field.
Experience teaching or tutoring in a higher education setting and/or successful prior work experience in an environment applicable to the current position.
Patience and the ability to multi-task.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Patience and ability to multi-task.
Basic computer skills and the ability to use a graphing calculator.

Responsibilities

Tutor students in all levels of mathematics.
Supervise Aides and Peer Tutors and lab activities.
Communicate effectively with students, instructors, and staff. Provide customer service.
Occasional data entry, record keeping, and general office duties.
Provide a positive environment for student learning.
Implement and enforce TC and A-B Tech regulations.
Other duties as assigned by the TC Coordinator.
