Job summary

Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College is seeking a part-time education tutoring assistant for the Tutoring Center. The role focuses on providing quality tutoring in Education courses and supporting students in a fast-paced lab environment.

You will supervise lab aides and peer tutors, assist instructors, and help maintain a professional, customer-service oriented environment for diverse learners. Strong communication and organizational skills are required.

Qualifications

• Must have at least a Bachelor’s degree with significant coursework in Education or Early Childhood.
• Excellent human relations, patience, and ability to multi-task required.
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
• Willingness to continue learning about latest innovations/technologies.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use a graphing calculator.
• Experience in an educational lab environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional tutoring services in Education courses.
• Supervise lab aides and peer tutors.
• Supervise lab activities and maintain orderly lab environment.
• Assist instructors and department chairs as needed.
• Communicate effectively with students, instructors, and staff to troubleshoot problems.
• Occasional data entry, record keeping, and general office duties.
• Foster a positive learning environment; enforce lab policies.
