Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a seasoned Materials Coordinator to support a 1.3 GW power project in Ohio. You will implement the Material Management Plan, coordinate between Engineering, Project Controls, Supply Chain and Construction, and ensure timely delivery of materials to the work packages.

The role requires a bachelor's degree and 5–12 years of relevant experience in construction materials, strong organization, and solid communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; 5–8 years of relevant experience, or 9–12 years of relevant work experience.
• Extensive knowledge of vendor materials, tools, consumables and safety material commonly utilized during construction.
• Experience in receiving documentation paperwork requirements; strong automation skills and ability to learn new applications quickly including DSCS.
• Working knowledge of material storage and handling of equipment; knowledge of field purchasing functions.
• Experience in rental agreements and administration; experience in work packaging materials for construction planning.
• Proficient in organizing tasks for completion by an agreed deadline; good oral and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Implements the Material Management Plan and coordinates the specification, identification, and quantification of materials with Engineering and Construction during front-end activities.
• Follows guidelines to optimize materials planning processes for key material commodities.
• Ensures consistent material identification methodology and efficient Purchase and Supply process.
• Identifies and mitigates potential delays due to approvals impacting engineering deliverables.
• Coordinates with Engineering to obtain required design drawings/data from suppliers ahead of needs.
• Assists in implementing component numbering approaches, tagging, bulk materials and spares as per project plan.
• Verifies requisitions identify required pay items and shipment/ storage details for Construction.
• Maintains relationships with Project Controls, Discipline Engineers, Supply Chain, and Construction to ensure material availability.
• Monitors schedules to ensure deliverables align with construction timelines.
