Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and three months experience performing these or similar tasks.
• Forklift certification required.

Responsibilities

• Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trucks or customer vehicles and secures loads to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
• Performs load-building, determining weight, composition, and placement of loads based on orders and vehicle capacity to ensure balanced and safe hauling.
• Reads work orders or follows oral instructions to determine materials to move or load.
• Conveys materials to or from storage to designated areas using hand truck, electric dolly, forklift or other device.
• Opens containers, units, slings, and loads using appropriate tools.
• Attaches tags or labels to materials for correct identification.
• Adheres to safety procedures to prevent injury; attends safety meetings; may suggest safety improvements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
