Job summary

Builders FirstSource is seeking an on-site Material Handler to load, unload, and prepare materials for delivery at our yard and customer sites. You will assemble load packages, ensure proper weight distribution, and assist with safe handling of products.

The role requires basic education (GED/HS diploma), forklift certification, and the ability to read work orders. A focus on safety and physical stamina is essential for daily operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and at least 3 months of related experience.
• Forklift certification required.
• Ability to read work orders and labeling.
• Strong safety focus and physical stamina.

Responsibilities

• Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trucks or customer vehicles and secures items to prevent shifting during transit.
• Performs load-building, determining weight, composition, and placement for safe hauling based on orders and vehicle capacity.
• Reads work orders or follows oral instructions to identify materials to move.
• Conveys materials to designated areas using hand truck, electric dolly, forklift or similar device.
• Opens containers and loads using cutters, crowbar, or hand tools.
• Attaches tags or labels to items to ensure correct identification.
• Understands and follows safety procedures to prevent injuries; attends safety meetings.
• Other duties may be assigned.
