Job summary

Whelan Machine is seeking a Production Control Manager in Louisville, KY to own production planning and lead the Production Control team. The role requires strong ERP/MRP skills, especially with Microsoft Dynamics NAV, and collaboration across Purchasing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Program Management to meet delivery commitments.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in a related field plus 5+ years in production control and 2+ years in leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• 5+ years in production control, planning or scheduling in manufacturing.
• 2+ years leading a production control, planning or scheduling team.
• Strong ERP/MRP and Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Own the master production schedule reflecting capacity, priorities and customer delivery commitments.
• Lead, coach and develop the Production Control team.
• Analyze demand, capacity and material availability; adjust schedules for engineering changes, material delays and downtime.
• Monitor work-in-process and open jobs to clear bottlenecks before they affect delivery.
• Serve as planning expert in the ERP/MRP system (Microsoft Dynamics NAV) and keep routings, bills of material and lead times accurate.
• Partner with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality and Program Management to keep production on track, and report schedule performance to leadership.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management or related field

5+ years in production control, planning or scheduling in manufacturing

2+ years leading a production control, planning or scheduling team

Strong ERP/MRP and Excel skills
