Job description

This client is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Production Scheduler to lead production planning and scheduling activities across manufacturing operations. This senior level role is responsible for developing and maintaining production schedules that support customer delivery requirements, optimize capacity utilization, and align material availability with operational priorities.

The ideal candidate will have extensive ERP/MRP experience, advanced analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with project management, manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, purchasing, and customer service teams. This position will play a key role in driving continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing scheduling processes, and supporting operational scalability as the organization grows. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a plus.

This position also offers the opportunity to supervise and mentor 1–2 production planning or scheduling employees as the department continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize master production schedules to support customer demand, inventory targets, and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate production priorities with manufacturing, procurement, engineering, and quality teams.
  • Analyze capacity constraints, material availability, labor resources, and lead times to create achievable schedules.
  • Monitor production performance and proactively adjust schedules to minimize disruptions and meet delivery commitments.
  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems to manage work orders, production planning, inventory accuracy, and material requirements.
  • Lead scheduling meetings and communicate schedule changes, risks, and recovery plans to Production Manager and Production Support Team.
  • Collaborate with purchasing and supply chain teams to resolve shortages and expedite critical materials.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on planning accuracy, throughput, inventory optimization, and on-time delivery.
  • Generate and analyze production metrics, KPIs, and reports to support operational decision-making.
  • Assist with forecasting, demand planning, and long-range capacity planning activities.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior planners or schedulers.
  • Potentially supervise 1–2 employees, including assigning work priorities, supporting performance development, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality standards, safety procedures, and operational policies.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 3-7+ years of production scheduling, planning, or manufacturing operations experience.
  • Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems and manufacturing workflows.
  • Experience in a complex manufacturing environment with multiple product lines and changing priorities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
Preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central strongly preferred.
  • Previous supervisory or team lead experience preferred.
  • APICS/CPIM certification or equivalent supply chain certification preferred.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience supporting high mix, low volume and precision manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with electronics assembly preferred.
