Job summary

Ports America, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Operations Manager to lead labor and foreman teams across three coasts, ensuring operational efficiency and safety while adapting to changing schedules.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, DHS TWIC, a valid US driver’s license, and experience with computerized systems; you will manage staffing, payroll, and safety program compliance, collaborating with M&R/Terminal departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
• Experience with Computerized Operating Systems.
• Obtain and maintain a TWIC Card issued by the Department of Homeland Security.
• Valid US Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Manage the work activities of the Foreman, Labor, and other personnel; ensure performance expectations and customer needs are met.
• Determine daily labor needs and allocate appropriately for your assigned area.
• Make decisions affecting overtime cost and general expenditures.
• Determine additional staffing/labor needs and contact appropriate representative in advance.
• Ensure payroll accuracy and make appropriate changes as needed.
• Ensure compliance with the company’s Safety program.
• Ensure all labor and staff comply with safety and workers' compensation programs.
• Work closely with M&R/Terminal Departments to ensure equipment allocation meets operational demands.
• Maintain positive relations with Labor and ensure Collective Bargaining Agreements are understood.
• Address performance issues and apply corrective action as warranted.
• Advise leadership of labor matters and assist in addressing grievances.
• Participate in regular training and feedback to labor and management staff.
• Communicate areas of accountability and performance expectations to staff.
• Develop and improve operating and administrative procedures.
• Ensure certifications and training are current for staff.
• Follow company policies and submit reports on time.
