Job summary

Ports America invites applications for Assistant Operations Manager DMT to lead terminal operations, supervise staff, and drive safe, efficient work for assigned customers and cargo types. The role requires managing labor, coordinating staffing, and ensuring payroll and safety compliance. A flexible schedule and travel may be necessary to support other operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• 1+ year of experience in supply chain, logistics, warehouse, or related discipline.
• Experience with computerized operating systems.
• Obtain a TWIC Card issued by the Department of Homeland Security.
• Valid US Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Effectively manage Foreman, Labor, and other personnel to meet performance and customer needs.
• Determine daily labor requirements and ensure proper staffing for the area.
• Decide on overtime costs and general expenditures in the company’s and customers’ best interests.
• Identify additional staffing needs and coordinate in advance for cost-effective staffing.
• Ensure payroll accuracy and implement necessary changes.
• Ensure compliance with the company Safety program.
• Ensure labor and staff comply with safety and workers' compensation programs.
• Collaborate with M&R/Terminal Departments to meet operational demands.
• Maintain relations with Labor and ensure adherence to Collective Bargaining Agreements.
• Address employee performance issues and apply corrective actions when warranted.
• Inform leadership of labor matters and assist with grievances.
• Participate in ongoing training for labor and management staff.
• Communicate accountability and performance expectations to staff.
• Develop and improve operating and administrative procedures.
• Ensure staff certifications and training are current.
• Ensure company policies and reports are followed and submitted on time.
• Work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Travel to support other operations as needed.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
