Job summary

Ports America, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Operations Manager to lead terminal operations and staff, ensuring safe, efficient, and productive service for customers and cargo.

You will direct foremen and labor, manage staffing, oversee overtime decisions, payroll accuracy, safety programs, and coordination with M&R/Terminal departments to align equipment and resources with demand. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience with computerized operating systems, MS Office or related technologies.
• 2+ years of management, leadership, and/or supervisory experience.
• Obtain and maintain Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) issued by the DHS.
• Valid US Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Direct the work activities of Foreman, Labor and staff to meet performance expectations and customer needs.
• Determine daily labor needs and ensure appropriate staffing for the area.
• Decide overtime cost and general expenditures in the company and for customers.
• Ensure payroll accuracy and make necessary changes.
• Ensure compliance with the Safety program and accident prevention procedures.
• Coordinate with M&R/Terminal Departments to allocate equipment for demand.
• Maintain relations with Labor and uphold Collective Bargaining Agreements.
• Address employee performance issues and enforce corrective actions as needed.
• Provide training and feedback to labor and management staff.
• Communicate accountability and performance expectations clearly.
• Develop and improve operating and administrative procedures.
• Ensure certifications and trainings are current for staff.
• Comply with policies and complete required reports on time.
