Job summary

Ports America is seeking an Assistant Operations Manager to lead teams across docks and administrative functions, driving operational efficiency and safety. You will coordinate labor, overtime, and staffing while ensuring compliance with safety programs and labor agreements.

The role requires a Bachelor’s Degree, a US TWIC card, and a valid driver’s license, with responsibilities spanning payroll accuracy, staff supervision, and cross-department collaboration at multiple locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with Computerized Operating Systems.
• Obtain and maintain a TWIC Card issued by DHS.
• Valid US Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Manage the work activities of Foreman, Labor, and other personnel to meet performance expectations and customer needs.
• Determine daily labor requirements and ensure proper staffing for the assigned area.
• Make decisions affecting overtime costs and expenditures in the best interests of the company and customers.
• Determine additional staffing needs and coordinate with appropriate representatives in advance.
• Ensure payroll accuracy and implement changes as needed.
• Ensure compliance with the company Safety program and related policies.
• Maintain positive labor relations and ensure adherence to Collective Bargaining Agreements.
• Communicate accountability and performance expectations to labor and management staff.
• Develop and improve operating and administrative procedures to provide information and facilitate internal practices.
