Job summary

Ports America Shared Services, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Operations Manager to lead teams and manage daily labor needs across multiple vessels and locations.

You will ensure safety, efficiency, and adherence to procedures while coordinating with terminal departments and maintaining strong labor relations. The role requires a bachelor’s degree or a HS diploma with 4+ years of management experience in logistics, transportation, or related fields.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combo (HS diploma + 4+ years) in a related field.
• TWIC security credential issued by DHS.
• Valid US driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with safety programs and accident prevention procedures.
• Supervise Foreman, Labor, and other personnel to meet performance and customer needs.
• Manage daily labor needs, ordering and overtime costs.
• Coordinate with M&R/Terminal Departments for equipment allocation.
• Maintain positive labor relations and adherence to collective bargaining agreements.
• Address employee performance issues and take corrective actions as needed.
• Advise leadership on labor matters and assist with disputes/resolutions.
• Provide regular training and feedback to staff.
• Develop and improve operating procedures and ensure staff certifications/training are current.
• Enforce company policies, controls, and timely reporting.
• Maintain a flexible work schedule (shift work).
