Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT seeks a docking engineer to join a small team of Engineers, Docking Supervisors, and hourly technicians. You will coordinate material readiness for Graving Docks and floating assets and interact closely with facilities and engineering teams.

The role requires a strong track record in safety, quality, cost, schedule, and process improvement, with the ability to engage with multiple stakeholders and promote a positive team environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor of Science degree or 10+ years experience managing material readiness of facilities or maritime barges and ships.
• 5+ years of experience managing material readiness of facilities or maritime barges and ships.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate material management and readiness of Graving Docks and floating assets (Atlas, Sea Shuttle, Holland).
• Schedule, fund and oversee all aspects of material management of docking assets.
• Adjudicate material deficiencies and remediation with engineering disciplines.
• Update and revise maintenance, technical manuals and technical drawings with Docking Engineer.
• Draft, track and manage correspondence with external government stakeholders and coordinate responses.
• Publish preventative maintenance cards as advised by Docking Engineer, Dock Technicians, and Tech Leads.
• Ensure all correspondence complies with MIL-STD-1625D and NSTM Chapter 997.
• Promote a positive team environment with strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Interact with all management levels, the customer, and Human Resources to ensure EEO and OSHA compliance.
