Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT is seeking a docking engineer to join a small team of engineers, docking supervisors, and technicians. You will coordinate the material readiness of docks and floating assets used in ship maintenance and overhaul projects.

Responsibilities include updating maintenance manuals, communicating with government stakeholders, and ensuring MIL-STD-1625D and NSTM 997 compliance while fostering teamwork and safety culture.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• BS degree or 10+ years’ experience in material readiness of facilities or maritime assets.
• 5+ years’ experience managing material readiness of facilities or ships.
• Preferred: technical writing background; Navy 3M System and CSMP experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate material management and readiness of docks and floating assets.
• Schedule, fund and oversee material management of docking assets.
• Adjudicate material deficiencies with engineering teams.
• Update maintenance manuals and drawings with Docking Engineer.
• Draft and manage correspondence with external government stakeholders.
• Publish preventive maintenance cards as advised.
• Ensure compliance with MIL-STD-1625D and NSTM Chapter 997.
• Promote a positive team environment and strong interpersonal skills.
• Interact with all management levels, customers and HR to ensure OSHA/EEO compliance.
