Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking a front line engineer for the Waterfront Engineering Directorate in Groton, CT. The role develops build strategies, methods, and fixtures for fabricating submarine components and assemblies, interfacing with trades in an active construction environment.

Primary duties include tooling details, Manufacturing Engineering procedures, and deckplate support for VIRGINIA Class, Overhaul and Repair, and COLUMBIA Class programs, with travel to Quonset Point and

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Marine, or equivalent engineering degree.
0-5 years of post-graduate engineering experience.
Broad understanding of structural/mechanical design, materials, weld design and bolted joints.
Construction support experience.
1+ years of engineering experience.
Master's degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Marine engineering.

Responsibilities

Identify and develop methods and tools required by the shipbuilder.
Develop details and designs for tools and fixtures.
Prepare Manufacturing Engineering procedures for sequence and alignment of critical installations.
Deckplate construction support for VIRGINIA Class, Overhaul and Repair, and COLUMBIA Class construction.
Interact with Groton, Quonset Point, Newport News designers and vendors to ensure build readiness.
