Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT is seeking a front line engineer in the Waterfront Engineering Directorate to develop build strategies, methods, and fixtures for submarine fabrication and assembly.

The role involves interfacing with trades, manufacturing, and planning, focusing on VIRGINIA Class, Overhaul and Repair, and COLUMBIA Class programs; occasional travel between Groton and Quonset Point is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Marine, or equivalent engineering degree.
• 0-5 years of post-graduate engineering experience.
• Broad understanding of structural/mechanical design, materials, weld design and bolted joints.

Responsibilities

• Develop build strategies, methods, and fixtures for fabricating and assembling submarine components, structures, systems, and modules.
• Prepare Manufacturing Engineering procedures for sequence and alignment of critical installations.
• Develop tools and fixtures and provide deckplate construction support.
• Interact daily with manufacturing, planning, designers, and vendors; travel between Groton and Quonset Point as needed.
