Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking a front line engineer for the Waterfront Engineering Directorate in Groton, CT. The successful candidate will interface with trades, troubleshoot fabrication, and develop tool and fixture concepts for submarine construction.

Responsibilities include creating tools, detailing designs, and drafting procedures to align critical installations in VIRGINIA Class, Overhaul, and COLUMBIA Class programs. Local travel between Groton and Quonset Point is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Marine, or equivalent engineering degree.
• 5+ years of engineering experience.
• Broad understanding of structural/mechanical design, materials, weld design and bolted joints.

Responsibilities

• Develop build strategies, methods, and fixtures for fabricating and assembling submarine components, structures, systems, and modules.
• Prepare Manufacturing Engineering procedures for sequence and alignment of critical installations.
• Provide deckplate construction support for VIRGINIA Class, Overhaul and Repair, and COLUMBIA Class construction.
