Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory seeks a Data and Software Engineer to enable data management and analysis for autonomous maritime systems. You will join a team developing analysis tools, data pipelines, and visualization for Navy uncrewed systems across projects from concept to field testing.

Responsibilities include requirements development, object-oriented design, data modeling, software development, field testing, and cloud integration. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum a B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years of experience in data and software engineering using Python, C#, or JavaScript in Linux-based cloud environments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients at all levels.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Eligibility for U.S. citizenship and interim Secret clearance leading to full Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform data and software engineering to enable analysis of autonomous platform performance.
  • Install and configure analysis capabilities in field, APL, and government cloud systems.
  • Propose and develop innovative ways to apply cutting-edge technologies to naval systems.
  • Document engineering activities and prepare briefs for sponsors.
