Job summary

CompX Grayslake is seeking a Marine Technical Customer Service Representative for a full-time, office-based role in Grayslake, IL. You will combine customer service, order management, and technical product support for Livorsi Marine products.

The successful candidate will have marine experience, strong communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to explain technical information clearly to customers. This position operates Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED is required.
Marine industry experience strongly preferred.
Experience in roles such as boat/marine mechanic, marine technician, or service writer is desirable.
Ability to explain technical information clearly to customers.
Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Comfortable using computers and order-entry/customer-management systems.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with multiple departments.
Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

Respond to customer questions by telephone and email in a professional and timely manner.
Use marine and mechanical knowledge to answer product questions and troubleshoot customer concerns.
Assist customers with identifying the correct products, replacement parts, and potential solutions.
Process customer orders accurately and provide timely follow-up.
Take ownership of customer concerns and coordinate solutions through completion.
Communicate with boat dealers, builders, service departments, technicians, distributors, and retail customers.
Coordinate with production, shipping, sales, engineering, and other internal departments to meet customer needs.
Monitor orders and communicate shipment status from multiple company locations.
Maintain accurate customer records, order information, and supporting documentation.
Develop strong customer relationships through clear communication, responsiveness, and dependable follow-through.
Identify recurring customer concerns and recommend product, service, or process improvements.
Use Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel to manage customer information, correspondence, and order-related activities.
Follow the company’s Quality Management System and applicable inspection, verification, documentation, and process requirements.
