Job summary

Serco is seeking a Marine Engineer for the Maritime Engineering Operation (MEO) in Arlington, VA. You will perform analyses and prepare engineering deliverables for ships, craft, and floating structures, collaborating with naval architecture and other disciplines.

You will lead in design integrations, provide concept studies, and support testing and construction activities, with opportunities to present to clients and manage project documentation.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree (Marine Engineering or related).
• 5 years of progressive experience in marine engineering.
• Knowledge of engineering principles, regulations, and ship design processes.
• Experience with government/contracting environments in technical services.

Responsibilities

• Perform auxiliary, fluid, mechanical, engine, and propulsion system design or review.
• Apply marine engineering knowledge to develop analyses and products per regulations.
• Lead design and engineering requirement development and specifications.
• Coordinate inputs from naval architecture, structures, and other disciplines.
• Provide concept studies for fluids systems and equipment.
• Support design from concept through detailed design and construction.
• Provide onsite engineering support at test sites or shipyards.
• Develop machinery arrangements and space allocations within ships.
• Conduct failure analysis and provide engineering solutions.
