Job summary

Serco is seeking a Marine Engineer to join the Maritime Engineering Operation (MEO) in Arlington, VA. You will design and review propulsion and auxiliary systems, coordinate with naval architecture and other disciplines, and provide feasibility studies and on-site support from design through construction.

The role requires 5 years in Marine Engineering, ABET-accredited degree, and the ability to obtain a secret clearance, with travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in Marine Engineering or related field such as Ocean Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.
• 5 years of related and progressive experience in Marine Engineering.
• Knowledge of engineering science and technology applied to design/production of marine craft.
• Experience with government contracting environments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey technical concepts clearly.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance and travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Perform auxiliary, fluid, mechanical, engine, and propulsion system design or review.
• Apply marine engineering knowledge to develop analyses and products per regulations and standards.
• Lead or participate in development and validation of design requirements, specifications, reports, and briefings.
• Coordinate inputs from naval architecture, structures, and other disciplines in machinery arrangements and layouts.
• Provide concept/feasibility studies for auxiliary systems and equipment (pumps, HVAC, etc.).
• Provide onsite engineering support during test/site activities and shipyard construction.
• Prepare documentation, reports, and project plans and present briefings to clients.
