Job summary

Serco Inc. is seeking a Marine Engineer to join the Maritime Engineering Operation (MEO) team in Arlington, VA, supporting US Navy and commercial maritime clients on ship and system design.

You will apply marine engineering expertise to perform analyses, develop design specifications, and prepare technical reports and presentations through all design phases. The role requires ABET-accredited degree, 5 years of experience, strong communication skills, and ability to obtain a secret clearance;

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in Marine Engineering or related field.
• 5 years of related, progressive Marine Engineering experience.
• Knowledge of engineering science for design and production of marine craft.
• Familiarity with government contracting environments and technical reporting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to adapt to changing project requirements and travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Perform auxiliary, fluid, mechanical, engine, and propulsion system design or review.
• Develop analyses and products per regulatory rules and industry standards.
• Lead or participate in development and validation of design requirements and specifications.
• Coordinate inputs across disciplines to establish machine spaces and layouts.
• Provide concept studies for fluids systems and equipment such as pumps and HVAC.
• Support design through DD&C and provide onsite engineering at tests or shipyards.
• Prepare documentation, reports, and briefings for clients.
• Assist budgeting, cost estimation, and project planning.
