Job summary

Serco is seeking a Marine Engineer to join our Maritime Engineering Operation in the Arlington, VA area. You will perform analyses and deliverables across ship and ship system design, under guidance from senior staff and in support of US Navy and other maritime customers.

The role covers design integrations, feasibility studies for fluid and equipment systems, and on-site support during construction, with opportunities to present formal briefings to government or commercial clients.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited university degree in Marine Engineering or related field (Ocean Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc).
• 5 years of related and progressive experience in the Marine Engineering field.
• Knowledge of engineering science and technology applied to design and production of marine craft.
• Experience in government or contracting environments relating to technical services.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Willingness to adapt to changing project requirements and learn new technologies.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Perform auxiliary, fluid, mechanical, engine, and propulsion system design or review.
• Apply marine engineering knowledge per regulatory rules and industry standards to develop analyses and products.
• Lead or contribute to the development and validation of design requirements and specifications.
• Coordinate inputs from multiple disciplines to establish principal characteristics and features.
• Provide concept and feasibility studies for auxiliary fluid systems and equipment.
