Job description

This full-time, year-round position is responsible for providing team-based, full-service marine operations for the Principals, including daily operations, maintenance, logistical planning, safety of multiple vessels, and serving as project manager. Maintaining a high level of Principal satisfaction is critical to the success of this position.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Project Management:
    1. Manage assigned projects from start to finish, ensuring timely completion with the utmost attention to detail.
    2. Manage periodic and final deadlines with professionalism and an appropriate sense of urgency, without sacrificing quality.
    3. Effectively manage expectations and keep projects on schedule.
    4. Proactively provide periodic updates to supervisor.
    5. Work closely with the team as an active, “hands-on” team member.
    6. Work with and supervise external vendors and contractors to ensure a collaborative approach to successful project completion.
  2. Watercraft Operations:
    1. Safely operate watercraft ranging in size, type, and complexity.
    2. Keep Principals’ and guests’ safety at the forefront at all times.
    3. Provision of watercraft to the family's preferences.
    4. Adjust navigation according to weather conditions.
    5. Dock and undock vessels.
  3. Boat Maintenance:
    1. Perform basic systems and engine maintenance, change oil, and replace components.
    2. Assist with building, finishing, and safety readiness of vessels.
    3. Provide general cleaning, polishing, painting, finishing, and detailing of vessels and facility.
  4. Marina and Dock Maintenance:
    1. Assist with seasonal needs for winterization, spring readiness, deck surface cleaning and finishing, lighting, water supply and safety readiness.
    2. Conduct off-season repairs, restoration and readiness of pedestals, safety ladders, lines, cleats and all related dock needs.
  5. Facilities Care and Maintenance:
    1. Assist with maintenance of the boat storage facility, such as lighting, plumbing, HVAC, shop cleaning, tool organization, inventory, and other related needs as they arise.
    2. Assist Property Managers with maintenance and project needs on all properties as directed.
    3. Operate forklift as needed.
  6. Other:
    1. Ensure services are performed at the highest level of quality.
    2. Maintain a courteous and professional status with Principals and guests.
    3. Efficiently communicate with other staff; attentively listen, ask questions, work well with others, and demonstrate a desire to be part of a team.
    4. Train other staff members.
    5. Complete other projects as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. A minimum of a 100-ton GRT Near Coastal Master and 200-ton GRT Near Coastal Mate is required.
  2. A minimum of 3 years of prior Captain’s experience on 70’+ vessels is required.
  3. Relevant industry experience required.
  4. Previous project management experience required.
  5. General knowledge and skill level in certain trades, such as mechanicals, HVAC, plumbing, repair, building/carpentry, painting, etc.
  6. Proven track record of providing outstanding customer service.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must wear required safety equipment provided by the employer.
  2. Travel required, including international; passport required (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  3. Valid driver’s license required.
  4. Forklift operator license required (or ability to obtain after hire).
  5. Requires working weekend and holiday shifts as needed.
  6. Some work is performed in and near water; strong swimming skills are required.
  7. Maintain the highest standards of professional conduct, ethics, and integrity in all operations.
  8. Must be responsible, dedicated, and dependable; neat and tidy in appearance; organized and reliable.
  9. Exemplify a positive attitude and demonstrate pride in service.
  10. Attentive to details to ensure the highest level of service.
  11. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  12. The highest level of confidentiality and sensitivity to privacy must be exercised at all times. This includes, but is not limited to, information pertaining to assets, communication, itineraries, and movements of the Principals.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  1. Ability to work at a physically demanding pace.
  2. Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds to a maximum height of six (6) feet.
  3. Ability to remain standing for lengthy periods of time; climb steps and stairs; stoop, bend, and kneel; push/pull.
  4. Ability to climb ladders and work at high heights.
  5. Ability to load and unload equipment and supplies.
  6. Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
