Job summary

Klein Marine Systems, Inc. in Newburyport, MA is seeking an Application Engineer to provide in-house and field engineering support for our advanced sonar products.

You will troubleshoot production electronics, support demonstrations, and perform installation, commissioning, and training on site and abroad. The role requires travel up to 25% and involves coordinating with sales, engineering, and field teams to ensure successful deployments and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in hydrography, geophysics, or electrical engineering is required.
• Minimum of three years of offshore survey engineer/technical support experience.
• Experience with sonar and marine navigation equipment.
• Proficient with standard electronic test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Gain in-depth knowledge of Klein's sonar systems and related equipment (USBL, magnetometers, winches).
• Advise customers on choosing suitable sonar and supporting systems based on survey needs.
• Assist sales with technical aspects of surveys, sonars, and system proposals.
• Participate in offshore sonar testing with the engineering team.
• Troubleshoot technical problems and prepare reports on performance of sonar tech.
• Conduct domestic and international customer demonstrations of Klein sonar systems.
• Collaborate with developers of UUVs/USVs to integrate Klein sonars as payloads.
• Update technical product manuals with engineering and production teams.
• Contribute to marketing materials highlighting Klein's sonar features and benefits.
