Job summary

Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Inc is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to provide hands-on support, troubleshooting, repair, and after-sales service for installed marine equipment. The role is customer-facing and requires strong electrical, controls, and mechanical troubleshooting capabilities.

The candidate must be comfortable working independently in the field, supporting customers remotely, and traveling frequently—sometimes on short notice.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of field service or technical support experience.
• Marine industry experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems, PLC logic/control systems, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, electrical drawings, and general arrangement drawings.
• Chemicals handling experience is an advantage.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform field service, troubleshooting, repair, and technical support for installed equipment.
• Diagnose electrical, PLC/control system, mechanical, and piping-related issues.
• Provide remote troubleshooting and technical assistance to customers.
• Support chemical resupply requirements associated with installed systems.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, and electrical drawings.
• Maintain strong health, safety, service documentation, and reporting practices.
• Work effectively with customers and internal technical/service teams.
• Travel frequently, including on short notice.
