Job summary

Axcelis Technologies, based in Beverly, MA, is seeking a First Shift Manufacturing Test Development Engineer III to lead the design, validation, and sustainment of manufacturing test solutions. The role partners with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality to improve product reliability and production efficiency.

You will own test systems end-to-end, develop automated test equipment, fixtures, and tooling, and drive continuous improvement for test coverage and throughput across global operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
• 4-6 years of engineering experience.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own test systems from concept through production use, including development, deployment, and sustaining support in a manufacturing environment.
• Design and validate electrical and mechanical manufacturing test solutions, including automated test equipment, fixtures, and tooling.
• Fabricate and implement custom test hardware using additive/subtractive manufacturing, PCBs, NI DAQ systems, and off-the-shelf components.
• Debug equipment and systems, including test equipment, data acquisition, and robotics.
• Analyze test data to identify failure modes and opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define test requirements and align with product needs.
• Create, update, and maintain detailed test documentation and calibration procedures.
• Support new product introduction by developing test strategies and equipment for emerging tech.
• Pursue continuous improvement to increase throughput and reduce downtime.
