Job summary

Axcelis Technologies, Inc. is seeking a 2nd shift Manufacturing Test Engineering Supervisor to lead a team of test and manufacturing engineers, supporting production test processes, equipment, and product quality.

You will drive development and continuous improvement of test systems, collaborate with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Design Engineering, manage priorities and staffing, and mentor direct reports to uphold safety, quality, and efficiency across multiple locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of manufacturing test engineering experience with leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
• Experience with automated test equipment, production troubleshooting, and manufacturing process control.
• Strong understanding of root cause analysis methodologies, SPC, and continuous improvement principles.
• Proficient reading of complex schematics and drawings.
• Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing environments.
• Demonstrated leadership, project management, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and develop a team of test engineers and technicians supporting manufacturing operations.
• Lead daily test engineering activities to ensure production goals, quality targets, and delivery commitments are achieved.
• Drive troubleshooting and root cause analysis of product, process, and test equipment failures.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize manufacturing test processes, procedures, and documentation.
• Oversee installation, qualification, maintenance, and continuous improvement of production test equipment and automated test systems.
• Ensure robust test coverage and process controls are implemented to maintain product quality and reliability.
• Monitor KPIs including yield, test cycle time, equipment uptime, and first-pass success rates.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and Design Engineering teams to improve manufacturability, testability, and product performance.
• Lead corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities and support audits as required.
• Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements to reduce cost and increase operational efficiency.
• Manage project priorities, resource allocation, and staffing plans to support changing business needs.
• Support new product introduction (NPI) activities, ensuring successful transition from development to production.
• Provide technical leadership, coaching, and performance management for direct reports.
• Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
