Job summary

Northrop Grumman Corp. in San Diego is seeking a Manufacturing Technician 1 to support layup and panel fabrication of composite structures for space and aerospace applications.

This position operates on the 2nd shift (1:00 pm – 10:30 pm) with a 7% differential. Responsibilities include handling fragile composite materials, prep, lay-up and bonding of prepregs, reading blueprints, and using calipers and tape measures.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and 0-2+ years' of composite lay up/bonding experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in a composites/manufacturing environment (space/satellite structures, aerospace manufacturing).
• Demonstrated mechanical ability.
• Able to read, write and work to written instructions, blueprints, or shop drawings in English.
• Proficient use of basic shop arithmetic.

Responsibilities

• Handle and manage fragile composite materials for layup and panel fabrication.
• Prep, lay-up and bonding of composite products; layup of uni-directional and weave prepregs.
• Report status/progress and interface with other employees and departments.
• Tooling preparation and release application.
• Use measurement tools (calipers, rulers, tape measures) for fabricating hardware.
• Maintain overall shop appearance and cleanliness.
• Execute to written instructions.

Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
