Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Iuka, MS is seeking a Manufacturing Technician 2 to support our Aeronautics Systems site. You will read blueprints, translate them into precise fabrications, and align parts on jigs with templates, ensuring high quality on every part.

The role requires physical work, basic tool use, and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance. Shifts may vary, with potential overtime and shift differentials.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years in hydraulic parts or assemblies in aerospace/mfg environment.
  • Ability to perform moderate strenuous physical work and lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret level clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must complete ASTAR New Hire Training/Compliance in due time.
  • Ability to work any shift.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand blueprints for structural assemblies.
  • Translate blueprints into fabrications including drilling and countersinking with calibrated tools.
  • Align parts on jigs using templates and fixtures.
  • Perform part-fitting: filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, riveting, drilling, reaming.
  • Measure parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions.
  • Modify assemblies per engineering changes and ensure quality per process control.
  • Daily use of shop controls and systems; follow PPE requirements.
  • Suggest and implement continuous improvements in methods and equipment.

We’re seeking a hands-on professional with exceptional attention to detail, a strong commitment to quality, and outstanding interpersonal skills.This position may be filled at varying shift times including weekdays, nights, and weekends (shift differential paid during eligible shifts).A shift - Mon-Thurs 7am-5:30pmB Shift - Mon-Thurs 5:30pm-4amC Shift - Fri-Sun 7am-7:30pmD Shift - Fri-Sun 7pm-7:30amEssential Functions:Read and understand blueprintsTranslate blueprints into fabrications of structural assemblies to include precision drilling, countersinking, and the use of calibrated toolsAligning parts on jigs using templates and fixturesPerforming part-fitting operations: filing sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, and reamingMeasures parts with precision tools such as micrometers and calipers to verify dimensionsMay modify incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate changes to structure and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedureDaily usage of manufacturing shop controls and systemsUse of appropriate PPE when working on the shop floorRecommend and implement continuous improvement activities in production methods, equipment performance, and team effectivenessBasic Qualifications:High School Diploma/GED with at least 2 years of experience in hydraulic parts, assemblies, components, or systems in an aerospace, automotive, military, manufacturing and/or maintenance environmentThis position requires the ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include: bending, stooping, kneeling, carrying tools, lifting up to 35 pounds, working overhead or at heights, and accessing small, confined spacesMust have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret level clearance and Special Program Access within a reasonable period, as defined by the company to meet its business needs. U.S. Citizenship required for clearanceMust successfully complete and pass the “ASTAR New Hire Training / Compliance” within a reasonable time period, as defined by the company to meet its business needMust have the ability to work any shiftPreferred Qualifications:Current/active U.S. Government Secret level clearanceExperience in aerospace manufacturingDemonstrated ability using standard measuring equipment and power hand tools (Drills, grinders, sanders, cutting wheels, saws, tape measures, scales, micrometers, dial calipers, etc.)Ability to read and understand blueprints, technical specifications and operating proceduresExperience working to electronic or written instructionsAbility to read engineering drawings#MPR#ASMTPrimary Level Salary Range: $42,100.00 - $70,100.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
