Southern Company seeks a Manufacturing Technical Trainer to onboard, train, and continually develop technicians across levels I–Senior. The role emphasizes structured programs, hands-on instruction, and safe, high-quality production.

It requires strong communication and coaching, plus the ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse, bilingual teams. The trainer bridges training and production to ensure readiness and sustained capability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; Associate's degree preferred.
• 4+ years in manufacturing or technical environment (switchgear/power generation preferred).
• Experience in training, onboarding, or workforce development preferred.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with production leadership.
• Knowledge of electrical/mechanical schematics and wiring diagrams; safety and quality practices.
• Experience with hand and power tools and safe operation.
• Knowledge of adult learning and training methodologies.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills (classroom and hands-on).
• English and Spanish bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead structured onboarding programs for technicians.
• Deliver hands-on and classroom training on mechanical/electrical assembly.
• Ensure new hires meet safety, quality, and production standards.
• Create engaging onboarding experiences for new employees.
• Conduct ongoing training for technicians at all levels.
• Support skill progression from Technician I through Senior Technician.
• Identify skill gaps with leadership and develop training plans.
• Maintain training materials, work instructions, and standard work.
• Continuously improve training programs using feedback and data.
• Roll out new processes, products, and changes through training.
• Model professional standards and uphold safety policies.
• Document training progress and employee readiness.
