Job Description

Location Profile:

Headquartered in Irvine, CA, Shur-Lok specializes in manufacturing fastening systems with superior locking devices for critical aerospace requirements, including engine module assembly, structural assembly, rotor blade attachment, and engine shaft and spindle applications. Our Irvine operations include CNC Machining, Waterjet Cutting, Laser Marking, Heat Treating, NDT, and EDM.

Position Summary:

2nd Shift 2:00PM-10:30PM

The Manufacturing Supervisor leads and supervises direct labor employees involved in manufacturing Shur-Lok products. This role manages resources to meet work schedules and customer needs efficiently and cost-effectively. Occasional hands-on operation of production equipment is permitted, not exceeding 20% of the workday, with prior approval from the Manufacturing Manager.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Enforce all safety rules and maintain a safe work environment.
2. Manage team leaders to set performance expectations, including hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplining employees.
3. Use daily passdowns to prioritize tasks and escalate issues as needed, maintaining clear communication about operational status.
4. Address scheduling issues to optimize machine and operator efficiency and report capacity constraints.
5. Achieve key metrics such as ESH, productivity, scrap, and sales.
6. Maintain appropriate staffing levels to meet performance goals.
7. Analyze and improve processes for efficiency and cost reduction.
8. Implement lean manufacturing practices (6S, flow, visual organization).
9. Ensure compliance with manufacturing documentation procedures.
10. Monitor scrap, yield, and efficiency metrics to meet budgets.
11. Maintain machinery through preventative maintenance programs.
12. Coordinate tooling, gauges, and supplies for production.
13. Train personnel in production, safety, teamwork, and lean principles.
14. Check quality and quantities, review SPC charts, and ensure router accuracy.
15. Resolve technical and administrative issues.
16. Perform other assigned tasks.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 3-10 years of technical manufacturing experience, preferably in off-shift operations.
• Strong leadership skills to drive second shift performance.
• Ability to work with multiple supervisors and prioritize tasks.
• Excellent communication skills for clear objective setting.
• Working knowledge of ERP systems; familiarity with AS400/Mapcis preferred.
• Problem-solving skills with ability to interpret instructions and work under deadlines.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and people effectively.

Education:

• Trade school or machine shop experience preferred; a Bachelor's in Engineering or Manufacturing Technology is a plus.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

• Regularly required to communicate, stand, walk, and occasionally sit, handle objects, and reach.
• Must lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 40 pounds occasionally.
• Operate a forklift if needed.
• Work environment includes exposure to moving parts and moderate noise levels.

Compensation ranges from $85,300 to $127,900 USD, with participation in bonus plans, paid time off, holidays, and benefits including health insurance and 401(k). This role requires compliance with U.S. export control laws, including ITAR and EAR, and applicants must be U.S. persons or authorized to handle controlled information.
