SUPERVISOR, PRODUCTION (STARLINK KIT PRODUCTION) - NIGHT SHIFT

SpaceX is developing a low latency, broadband internet system to meet the needs of consumers across the globe. Enabled by a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites, Starlink will provide fast, reliable internet to populations with little or no connectivity, including those in rural communities and places where existing services are too expensive or unreliable.

We are looking for a hard driving and well-rounded leader, capable of taking charge of a broad array of responsibilities. You would be the boots on the ground production area owner while recruiting and training the production team who will operate and maintain the production equipment. You would be responsible for establishing the standards by which this team would operate, and shepherding the organization from first parts into a disciplined production organization. This individual must have the capability to rapidly become a subject matter expert on multiple complex and process intensive production operations. You must be capable of operating successfully within a chaotic startup environment, while identifying and executing on actions needed to create a structured production organization.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and steer the collective efforts of electronics production associates
  • Enforce area standards and run rules (includes bi-annual reviews and disciplinary action)
  • Interface with area leadership, and prioritize work based on production schedule and organizational goals
  • Schedule risk identification and mitigation
  • Coordinate support organization efforts to minimize production interruptions
  • Ensure product quality and conformance to specifications
  • Process non-conforming hardware to efficiently return them to conforming state and normal product flow
  • Improve area safety and efficiency through regular auditing and continuous improvement
  • Ensure optimization of product flow through the factory
  • Implement root cause analysis and corresponding corrective action plans
  • Identify and eliminate defects within the area value stream
  • Reduce downtime for product and personnel
  • Support efforts to transition product from engineering development to full-rate production
  • Review drawings and technical data packages for manufacturability while providing constructive feedback to engineering/design community

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree; or 5+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing/testing environment in lieu of degree; or 2+ years of SpaceX experience working in Starlink production
  • 1+ years of experience leading a team or project

Preferred Skills And Experience

  • Lean manufacturing training and experience
  • Experience monitoring, tracking, and continually improving total cost equation
  • Experience with applying lean manufacturing principles and efficiency methods
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret controlled documentation and processes such as cable harnesses, wiring diagrams, layout drawings, mechanical drawings, GD&T, assembly procedures/work instructions, schematics, engineering drawings, and parts lists
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Failure Mode Effects Analysis
  • PCBA, harness, electro-mechanical assembly, optical component manufacturing and prototype development experience
  • Experience preferred in fast-paced production environment with flight quality hardware
  • Six Sigma certification
  • Able to adapt to constant changing work assignments and fast-paced work environment
  • Proficient with computers with the ability to use MS Office, shop floor management software (ERP) and related programs

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work night shift Monday to Friday from 3:30PM to 2:00AM
  • Available to work extended hours and weekends as needed
  • Able to travel for short and extended trips as needed, up to 10%
  • Able to lift 25 lbs. unassisted, stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight spaces

Pay Range

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Supervisor: $95,000.00 - $135,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You will also receive access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks. You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year. Employees accrue paid sick leave pursuant to Company policy which satisfies or exceeds the accrual, carryover, and use requirements of the law.

Itar Requirements

  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C.
  • 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C.
