Job summary

WeldFit is seeking a Service Technical Writer for its Houston, TX facility to develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and service documentation. You will collaborate with Operations, Service, Engineering, Quality, Safety, HR, and Management to convert complex workflows into clear, user-friendly materials.

The role requires strong technical writing skills, experience gathering information from SMEs, shop personnel, and field technicians, and a detail-oriented mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Business Administration, Communications, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Develop, write, edit, and maintain SOPs, work instructions, policies, forms, checklists, and technical documentation.
• Create documentation supporting manufacturing, quality, service, engineering, safety, and operations.
• Develop process maps, flowcharts, training materials, and visual aids for operational excellence.
• Translate complex technical concepts into user-friendly documentation for all employees.
• Ensure documentation is standardized, accurate, and aligned with company objectives.
• Collaborate with department leaders to document current-state processes and identify improvements.
• Observe operations to capture workflows and procedures.
• Review existing documentation and recommend revisions to improve efficiency and compliance.
• Support knowledge management and standardization initiatives.
• Manage document revisions, approvals, and version control.
