Job summary

METTLER TOLEDO in Oakland seeks an experienced procurement professional to manage direct and indirect purchasing, supplier relationships, and inventory replenishment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

You will negotiate terms, maintain SAP data, and drive cost savings while ensuring ISO 9001 compliance and cross-functional NPDI support. Strong analytical skills and Lean experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
• Equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain role; manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience managing purchase orders, supplier relationships, and inventory replenishment in a high-mix production setting.
• Intermediate knowledge of MRP/ERP-driven procurement processes; SAP preferred; experience supporting new product launches cross-functionally is a plus.
• Background in precision instruments, laboratory equipment, medical devices, or regulated manufacturing environments is an advantage.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency with ERP systems (SAP strongly preferred) for PO management, inventory analysis, and reporting.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management system requirements as they apply to supplier qualification and purchasing controls.
• Understanding of Incoterms and domestic/international shipping/logistics processes.
• Experience with Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement (5S, Kaizen).
• Analytical skills to interpret spend data, evaluate quotes, and make fact-based purchasing decisions.

Responsibilities

• Issue and manage purchase orders for direct/indirect materials and services per MRP/ERP requirements.
• Monitor open orders and expedit deliveries to prevent production disruptions.
• Evaluate supplier quotes, negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms to meet cost/quality targets.
• Maintain SAP data including pricing, lead times, MOQs, and supplier records.
• Manage MRP exception messages (reschedules, expedit es, cancellations).
• Collaborate with Supplier Quality, Engineering and Production to resolve issues.
• Track procurement metrics and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Support NPDI/MPDI by sourcing materials and qualifying suppliers.
• Participate in supplier performance reviews and assess supply risks.
• Contribute to Lean/5S continuous improvement projects.
• Ensure purchasing activity complies with ISO 9001 and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with Accounts Payable to resolve invoice discrepancies and payments.
• Support annual budget planning with spend data and market intelligence.
