Job summary

Tri-Starr Talent is seeking an experienced Buyer to join our manufacturing team onsite in San Antonio, TX. You will source materials, negotiate with suppliers, and manage purchase orders to ensure materials arrive on time and at the right cost.

In this hands-on role, you will build strong supplier relationships, monitor inventories, and drive cost savings. You’ll collaborate with Engineering, R&D, and Accounting to resolve invoices and optimize purchasing performance.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in procurement, purchasing, or inventory management.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business, Logistics, or Supply Chain.
• Strong vendor negotiation and contract knowledge.
• Experience with MRP systems such as SAP and MS Office.
• Understanding of supply chain and inventory management principles.
• Excellent organization, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Experience with RFQ/RFP processes, supplier evaluation, and cost analysis.
• VMI, Kanban, or supplier scorecard experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor inventory levels, order quantities, and delivery schedules to support lean inventory and prevent shortages.
• Partner with Accounting to resolve invoice and purchasing discrepancies.
• Work closely with Engineering, R&D, and other departments on new projects and sourcing needs.
• Obtain quotes, product information, specifications, and samples as needed.
• Track supplier performance and identify opportunities to improve quality, pricing, and delivery.
• Maintain accurate vendor, product, pricing, and purchasing records.
• Communicate supply shortages, delays, and potential production impacts promptly.
