Job summary

The J.M. Smucker Co. in Buffalo, NY is seeking an HR Coordinator / Labor Scheduler to blend HR duties with labor scheduling at our Milk-Bone manufacturing facility.

You will partner with employees, union leadership, and plant management to ensure a positive employee experience and efficient workforce operations. This full-time, on-site role offers exposure to payroll coordination, attendance tracking, training administration, and workforce reporting, with opportunities to drive labor efficiency

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in Human Resources, labor scheduling, or workforce coordination.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess departmental labor needs to create schedules that support operations.
• Organize weekly employee schedules based on qualifications and availability.
• Coordinate weekend overtime sign-ups, layoffs, and daily overtime opportunities.
• Partner with leaders to anticipate staffing needs and adjust schedules.
• Provide labor and workforce reports to HR leadership and Payroll.
• Coordinate hourly management, union training, and labor committee meetings.
• Manage training administration and qualification tracking.
• Maintain training records and qualification databases to ensure compliance.
• Generate training and qualification reports for compliance requirements.
• Administer hourly job bidding, posting opportunities, and supporting documentation.
• Support attendance programs with Payroll and track vacation records.
• Assist onboarding and unemployment claims processing.
• Support Employee Product Purchase Program and engagement initiatives.
• Maintain confidentiality of personnel and medical files.
