Manufacturing Engineer — Starlink Production Lead

SpaceX is developing Starlink and is seeking talented manufacturing engineers to drive tools and processes from concept development to full-scale production. You will own the relationship between engineering development and production teams, lead prototype builds, and ensure manufacturing systems meet throughput, cost, quality, and reliability targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
• 1+ years of manufacturing experience required.
• Willing to work weekends and travel up to 10%.
• Eligible to obtain required export authorizations per ITAR.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement electro-mechanical assembly and test processes
• Collaborate with the mechanical design team to incorporate design for manufacturability
• Lead prototype builds ensuring incremental milestones for the production development are met
• Ensure manufacturing systems are capable of hitting high volume rate, cost, and quality targets
• Lead facilities development, floor layout, headcount requirements, and material flow definition
• Identify tooling and hardware requirements, design and implement them into production processes
• Identify automation opportunities and establish requirements as well as evaluate return on investment for each
• Work with in-house resources or vendors as necessary to develop these solutions and implement on the production line
