Job summary

Laborup is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer in Vonore, Tennessee to elevate high-volume automotive production. You’ll work on the manufacturing floor with operators to identify inefficiencies, troubleshoot downtime, and implement practical solutions that improve safety, quality, throughput, and cost.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical preferred).
• 2–7 years of experience in manufacturing, process, or production engineering.
• Experience with lean manufacturing, process optimization, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Strong communication skills and comfort working with frontline personnel.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure, and troubleshoot production challenges effectively.

Responsibilities

• Production Support: Maintain a strong daily presence on the manufacturing floor, working directly with operators, technicians, and maintenance to support production and keep operations running safely and efficiently.
• Hands-On Troubleshooting: Respond to line downtime, equipment issues, process variation, and other production challenges in real time; identify root causes and implement practical, sustainable solutions.
• Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements that increase throughput, reduce scrap and downtime, improve quality, and eliminate waste.
• Continuous Improvement: Lead and support Kaizen, root cause analysis, time studies, standard work, process balancing, and other lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Capital Projects: Support equipment specification, vendor coordination, installation, commissioning, and other capital improvement projects.
• Cross-Functional Engineering: Partner with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering to solve technical problems and improve manufacturing performance.
• Performance & Technology: Use production data and emerging manufacturing technologies to identify and implement opportunities for improvement.
