Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to translate engineering intent into turbomachinery hardware, improving quality, cutting costs, and optimizing build sequences. You will lead manufacturing methods, define process controls, and collaborate across design, build, and test to accelerate rocket engine development.

Minimum BS in a related field with 3+ years’ experience in manufacturing hardware is required; CAD proficiency and strong software skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 3+ years of applicable experience in manufacturing hardware and aerospace-related fields.
  • Strong fundamentals in mechanical design and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience developing or starting new manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency with CAD and common office/software tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Develop new turbomachinery component manufacturing processes.
  • Enhance turbomachinery assembly processes and translate designs into hardware.
  • Prepare turbopumps for test, qualification, and flight.
  • Identify and deploy methods to improve quality and reduce cost.
  • Conduct DFMA and PFMEA to strengthen design-build-test feedback.
  • Create manufacturing work instructions for receiving, fabrication, assembly, test, and refurbishment.
  • Lead manufacturing sequences and support hardware build schedules.
  • Review engineering drawings and provide final manufacturing approvals.
  • Develop process controls and analyze data statistically.
  • Define and support repair/rework activities of turbomachinery hardware.
